Lohagad Fort India:A Glimpse of Ancient Era

Lohagad fort located in Pune, India, is a symbol of the rich architectural skills of the ancient times. The fort dates back to the Satwaahan times and is named after the spiritual leader Lomesh. The fort was basically built to observe the activities of the surrounding and the coming enemies. The fort was very famous in its time and a lot of rules tried to capture it like Mirza Raja, Jaysingh and Kutbuddin but in 1670, it was captured by Chatarpati Shivaji.
The fort is located at a height of 3200 feet and you can reach there in 3-4 hours without facing much difficulty. Transport is available to reach at the top but you can also enjoy trekking, depending on your interest. There are two beautiful lakes of drinking water up there so you would not face any difficulty to find water.

The fort is very important for the locals as it held many things f their religious interest like Ganesh Darwaaja. There is ritten on one of its large stones about its history which tells you that the construction of this fort was initiated by Dhondopant under Nana Pandis. Despite being hundreds of years old, most of the part of the fort looks as if it was constructed 200-300 years back. It has a Dargah on the right side and also a temple. There is also a lake with 16 sides that is of the shape of a polygon. The most interesting part of the fort is Vinchu Kata. The Vinchu Kata is the separation of a mountain which holds the fort. It is 1500 m long and 30 m wide. If you it from the fort, it would look like a scorpion’s sting. This was used to keep an eye on the enemies and the nearby regions.
The fort is really magnificent. You can make a full day trip plan and enjoy your whole day over there. Take eatables with you and have a picnic, reminding of the old days of the Indian Emperors. You would not regret this trip.
